One of the Fair’s must unique contests happens on Labor Day, September 3rd in Columbia Hall.

Folks who enter this fascinating contest will be challenged to render the shape of the state of Oregon in the medium of their choosing. People of a certain age may remember performing this very task as school children using a mixture of white paste and sawdust. But now the opportunity exists to use any kind of material.

Now the opportunity exists to use any kind of material. For example, entries can be made of wood. Or yarn. Or something you might eat, such as cake. Entries can come from the world of agriculture, or even recycled materials. The point is, this contest is wide open in terms of interpretation.

Check out this unexpected competition at 1:00 pm on the Explore Oregon Showcase.
